What does it mean?
Diamond certificates
Diamond certificates are official grading reports issued by independent laboratories that evaluate a diamond’s quality based on the 4Cs: cut, color, clarity, and carat weight.
Reputable institutes like GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and IGI (International Gemological Institute) provide these certificates to verify a diamond’s authenticity and characteristics.
A certificate ensures transparency, helping you understand exactly what you’re buying.
Both mined diamonds and lab grown diamonds come with certification options.
which one should I pick?
Igi or gia certificates
IGI and GIA are two of the most recognized diamond grading laboratories, but they differ slightly in reputation and strictness. GIA is widely considered the gold standard for the most consistent and rigorous grading, especially for color and clarity. IGI is also respected and truste, often slightly more affordable, and typically offers faster turnaround times, making it a popular choice.
Investment
Why should I pick a certified diamond?
Choosing the right diamond certificate is an important part of your investment, because it gives you complete transparency and confidence in what you’re buying. A trusted certificate - whether from GIA or IGI - verifies the diamond’s true quality and ensures that the price you’re paying matches its characteristics. For you as a client, this means peace of mind, easier comparisons between stones, and stronger long-term value should you ever wish to upgrade, insure, or resell your diamond.
Please note: For stones below 0.30 carats it becomes more common to go for uncertified options.
